Company president fined $25,000

Worker struck by excavator bucket

Jason Scott Wright, president of Gage Energy has been fined $25,000 plus the 15 per cent victim fine surcharge for a total fine of $28,750. Wright pleaded guilty to section 2(a)(i)(a) of Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Act.

On Sept. 12, 2015, a worker sustained serious injuries when struck by the bucket of an excavator during the installation of piling structures. The offence occurred in Sunnynook, Alta.
