B.C. roofing company fined for lack of fall protection

One individual wearing harness but not connected to lifeline

 A. Mackenzie Roofing has been fined $16,270 by WorkSafeBC.

This firm was roofing a new house in Central Stanch, B.C. WorkSafeBC observed two workers on the sloped roof working at heights greater than 3 metres (10 feet.). Neither worker was using a personal fall protection system and no other form of fall protection was in place.

A representative of the firm who was also on the roof was wearing a fall protection harness but was not connected to a lifeline.

The firm's failure to ensure fall protection was used was a high-risk violation.

The firm also failed to provide its workers with the information, instruction, training, and supervision necessary to ensure their health and safety. These were both repeated violations.
